China can become largest robot consumer

With the demand for industrial robots being anticipated to hit 32,000 units by 2014, China could become the world’s largest robotics consumer.

According to the International Federation of Robotics, the sector’s technology and production have gained momentum amid higher labour costs and China’s efforts to restructure its economic growth pattern and improve energy efficiency, Xinhua reported.

Taking U-turn to death

An accident in Dubai’s Al Wasl area claimed the life of a pedestrian as she tried to cross the road. According to eyewitnesses, the impact of the collision was so severe that the victim landed below a truck parked in a nearby parking lot.

Drying laundry indoors bad for health 

Drying clothes indoors could cause health problems, particularly to those prone to asthma, hay fever and other allergies, say researchers.

A study found many homes in Britain had too much moisture indoors and up to 30 percent of this was caused by laundry, the Daily Mail reported Friday.

The researchers said three-quarters of homes surveyed had moisture levels that could lead to dust mite growth and were at risk of increased concentration of mould spores. The reduction in air quality has been tied to asthma and other allergic conditions.

Apple iPad mini draws New Yorkers; crowds thin elsewhere

Apple Inc's iPad mini hit stores around the world on Friday, attracting sparser crowds than previous Apple launches, but the Kirchhoff still drew hundreds of New Yorkers only days after one of the biggest storms to hit the United States.A proliferation of rival gadgets aimed at the holidays and cheaper tablets from Google and Amazon.com may have sapped interest in Apple’s latest bet, resulting in shorter lines outside stores from Tokyo and Amsterdam to Sydney and Hong Kong.

The 7.9-inch iPad mini marks Apple’s first foray into the smaller-tablet segment, and is the company’s first major new device since the death of its co-founder, Steve Jobs, last year.

In Manhattan, crowds braved crippled public transit and an early morning chill to line up outside Apple’s Fifth Avenue flagship store just two blocks from where a damaged crane dangled from a high-rise building - a stark example of how super storm Sandy ravaged the city.

 Easy Cupcake Recipe

Ingredients

• 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
• 1 1/3 cups sugar
• 3 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1 cup milk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 2 large eggs

Easy Cupcake Recipe Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cupcake pans with paper liners.
2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add shortening, milk, and vanilla. Beat for 1 minute on medium speed. Scrape side of bowl with a spatula. 
3. Add eggs to the mixture. Beat for 1 minute on medium speed. Scrape bowl again. Beat on high speed or 1 minute 30 seconds until well mixed.
4. Spoon cupcake better into paper liners until 1/2 to 2/3 full.
5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
6. Cool 5 minutes in pans then remove and place on wire racks to cool completely.
7. Once Cupcakes are completed, frost with your favorite frosting recipe or decorate as you desire.

Why Green Tea

Green tea has been used as a medicine for thousands of years. Originating in china but widely used throughout Asia this beverage has multitude of uses from lowering blood pressure to preventing cancer. The reason that green tea has more health benefits attached to it than black tea is (apparently) due to processing. Black tea is processed in a way that allows for fermentation whereas green tea's processing avoids the fermentation process. As as result, green tea retains maximum amount of antioxidants and poly-phenol's the substances that give green tea its many benefits.

2. Diabetes. Green tea apparently helps regulate glucose levels slowing the rise of blood sugar after eating. this can prevent high insulin spikes and resulting fat storage.
3. Heart Disease.  Scientists think green tea works on the lining of blood vessels, helping keep them stay relaxed and better able to withstand changes in blood pressure. It may also protect against the formation of clots, which are the primary cause of heart attacks.
4. Esophageal Cancer. It can reduce the risk of esophageal cancer, but is also widely thought to kill cancer cells in general without damaging the healthy tissue around them.
5. Cholesterol. Green tea reduces bad cholesterol in the blood and improves the ratio of cholesterol to bad cholesterol.
6. Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. It is said to delay the deterioration caused by Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Studies carried out on mice showed that green tea protected brain cells from dying restored damaged brain cells.
7. Tooth Decay. Studies suggest that the chemical antioxidant "Catechin" in tea can destroy bacteria and viruses that cause throat infections, dental caries and other dental conditions.
8. Blood Pressure. Regular consumption of green tea is thought to reduce the risk of high blood pressure.
9. Depression. Theanine is an amino acid naturally found in the tea leaves. It is this substance that is thought to provide a relaxing and tranquilizing effect and be a great benefit to tea drinkers.
10. Anti-viral and Anti-bacterial. Tea catechins are strong antibacterial and antiviral agents which make them effective for treating everything from influenza to cancer. In some studies green tea has been shown to inhibit the spread of many diseases.
11. Skincare. Green tea can apparently also help with wrinkles and the signs of aging, this is because of their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. both animal and human studies have demonstrated that green tea applied topically can reduce sun damage.

Why Green Tea

These are some of the many benefits but the reality is one cup of tea a day will not give you all the abundant gains. The jury is out on how many cups are necessary; some say as little as two cups a day while others five cups - and more still say you can drink up to ten cups a day. If you are thinking of going down to this route, you may want to consider taking a green tea supplement instead (it would keep you out of the bathroom).

Another thing to point out is that there is caffeine in green tea-son if you are sensitive to caffeine then one cup should be your limit. Green tea also contains tannis (which can decrease the absorption of iron and folic acid), so if you are pregnant or trying to conceive then green tea may not be ideal for you. You can try mixing green tea with other healthy ingredients such as ginger.

For the rest of us with all these abundant benefits...it's a wonder we drink anything else.
